Having just celebrated Ashura, we are reminded of the terrible
persecution of people groups in the past—the enslavement of the Jews in Egypt, the horrifying treatment of Ḥussain ibn Ali along with his family and followers, and the suffering of many others throughout history and into the present.
At MLFA, we stand against persecution of any and all kinds. Certainly we stand with our Muslim brothers and sisters, protecting them from government overreach. But we also stand alongside our Black brothers and sisters, who continue to face systemic discrimination in this country; and our Latin and Hispanic brothers and sisters, who are being abused at our southern border; and our Asian brothers and sisters, who are being blamed for a pandemic that they have not created.
We exist to work to right wrongs, not just for our generation but for generations to come.
