The UN just released a report on the devastating impact of rapidly rising global temperatures. They warn that without immediate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we’ll cross a dangerous warming within two decades.
This report confirms what we already know too well here in Washington: the climate crisis is catastrophic and it will only get worse — unless we act now.
Our Senate Democrats have stood up and passed historic legislation to address the climate crisis this legislative session, but our work is just beginning. We need 2,000 activists to sign our petition this week to show they’re committed to keeping up the fight for climate action.
Here in Washington, we’re already seeing the devastating effects of climate change. We’ve faced an historic heat wave that threatened the health of our communities. And now, we’re battling wildfires all across eastern Washington and the West Coast.
This legislative session, Senate Dems pushed forward the Climate Commitment Act to create a cap-and-invest program and slash greenhouse gas emissions; passed a new low carbon fuel standard; and passed the HEAL Act to prioritize racial equity and environmental justice.
But this IPCC report is just another reminder that we can’t let up — not now, not ever. The climate crisis is dangerous and it’s up to us to demand action in the years to come.
Join the fight to address the climate crisis. Sign on to stand with us as we continue to fight for bold legislation to protect our planet.
Thanks for standing with us today.
