Hi Friend,

It’s been a few months since we launched the Regional Political Managers program here at the Texas Democratic Party -- creating a new team of folks working across the state to help local Democrats build power in their home communities. So I thought it was about time I introduced myself. My name is LaShun Roy, and I’m the Regional Political Manager serving Democrats across East Texas.

I’m beyond excited to be taking on this new challenge, because it’s a chance to directly impact my community here in East Texas. By supporting local Democratic parties and candidates in the place I call home, I’m working to empower people to be the change they want to see in their communities. Friend, this is about laying the groundwork to take back our state. Before I tell you a little more about myself, can I count on you to help push that work forward by chipping in $7 now?

I’m a small-town girl who grew up in a 2,000 population town -- with parents who run the classic small-town small business: a bait and tackle shop. Being a voice for rural Texans is in my bones. And throughout my political career, whether registering voters across our state or building Democratic power on campuses, I’ve had one goal: to help people find their power and use it. Because whether you’re from Dallas County or a rural community like mine, your voice matters. Each and every one of us counts.

I got my start in 2014, when I got the chance to attend the New Leadership Texas program. For the first time, I was surrounded by incredible women from across the state who were there for the sole purpose of supporting one another. I was electrified -- and I knew then that I wanted to do my part to make sure every Texan felt empowered in the political process as well.

Since then, I’ve made it my mission to help as many Texans as possible find their power through voting. I’ve worked to register voters in my roles at major statewide and national organizations, including VoteRunLead, Ignite National, MOVE Texas, and JOLT -- where in just four months, my team of four registered over a thousand people to vote. That’s the kind of community-level organizing that makes a difference -- and by working from the ground up, in every corner of the state, we can multiply that effect to build a groundswell.

Friend, helping folks register to vote is one of the most basic but most important roles that any of us can take on -- because you’re helping to change the political landscape in Texas. When you register a new voter, you empower them and remind them that they have a voice and their voice matters. By casting a ballot, every Texan has the power to influence what goes on in their everyday lives. Every single person in this state has the power to make a difference.

Right now, Texas Democrats are laying the groundwork to register up to 2 million Texans by 2022. That’s our best shot at defeating Texas Republicans, and electing Democratic champions who will fight for our communities. It’s going to take all of us -- and the work starts now. Chip in $7 to join the fight today:
