This week, the Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules voted along party lines to approve rules to implement New Hampshire’s Education Freedom Accounts Act.
This innovative school choice program will for the first time allow families in need the opportunity to leverage state education funding for alternatives to their local schools. We know that every child learns differently, and while some students thrive in their local district schools, others struggle and need another path.
Education Freedom Accounts use state dollars for non-public school tuition, hardware and software for remote learning, transportation, testing, and even Community College. Expanding school choice will give families in need the chance to access the best education for their children. I am proud of the work that Senators Ward, Hennessey, and Ricciardi put in on the Senate Education Committee to craft this important and ground-breaking legislation. Because of this week’s vote, families will be able to set up EFAs for their children this fall.
New Hampshire families have more choices than ever before because House and Senate Republicans and Governor Sununu trust New Hampshire families to guide the education of their children.
