Dear John,

The stakes have never been so high. A horrifying ban on abortion before many even know they are pregnant in Texas (SB 8) is set to take effect in less than two weeks, putting a bounty on the heads of anyone who helps someone seeking abortion care … a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade will be heard by a Supreme Court stacked with an anti-choice supermajority … and abortion care is becoming harder and harder to access all across the country.

It’s against this backdrop and with a deep commitment to our mission that this fall we’ll embark on a new chapter as an integrated, nationwide organization working in states all across the country and in Washington, DC to fight for reproductive freedom. The organizations in NARAL Pro-Choice America’s affiliate network expressed their desire to explore pathways to operate independently, as a cohort of state-based sibling organizations. We honor their wishes, and while they will no longer be a part of our organization, we’ll be cheering them on and hoping to continue collaborating and working together to expand and protect the legal right to abortion.

And here at NARAL Pro-Choice America, our work isn’t slowing down as we shift our organizational model. It’s ramping up, and we hope you’ll be a part of it.

Join us on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 8 pm ET for “Why WHPA? Why Now?” to learn more about the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) and how this critical legislation would safeguard the right to abortion by preventing heinous bills like Texas’ SB 8 from becoming law. Then take action during our National Phonebank and urge members of Congress to cosponsor WHPA.

Our commitment to working at the state level has never been stronger and we’re so grateful to have you with us in this fight.

We are the majority, the 77% who support legal abortion, and we aren’t backing down. There’s much to be done and we know NARAL Pro-Choice America members are dedicated, determined, and laser-focused on how to fight back against bans, restrictions, and attacks on reproductive freedom.
