The lack of leadership from Gov. DeSantis since the beginning of this pandemic has been disappointing and tragic. Now, as we see record levels of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Florida — DeSantis is making the pandemic worse by threatening to cut funds to schools that institute mask mandates.

This is about more than politics; the health of our children and our communities is at stake.

Florida has once again become a global hotspot for COVID-19, and we must do everything we can to encourage vaccinations.

Our state needs leaders who will protect their citizens instead of using every opportunity to seek partisan gain. The job of the Governor is to keep Floridians safe. We need to come together, but the Governor is tearing us apart.

Stand with me in calling out Governor DeSantis and his dangerous attempts to politicize masks and minimize the realities of this pandemic.
