When I ran for Secretary of State in Missouri, I knew it wouldn't be easy. But I also knew the people of Missouri, and if I told them the truth they wouldn't just vote along party lines — they'd vote for the guy who was going to protect them and their families.
But things have changed, John, and not for the better.
Now, Republicans don't just run on ideological differences. They run on dangerous misinformation, willful deception, and a shameless hunger for power.
That's why I was so glad to hear about the work Shield PAC is doing to protect House Democrats and the American people from the GOP's endless barrage of lies. Like you, I've been disgusted by the false attacks and ridiculous disinformation from Republicans — and Shield PAC is how we fight back.
Politics can get real ugly, but it doesn't have to be that way.
The cruelty, blatant hypocrisy, and lack of decency the House GOP has shown is truly disturbing. That's not who we are, John, and that behavior doesn't reflect the great country I fought for.
What makes our nation strong is our shared commitment to truth, decency, and democracy. If we don't have that, well, we don't have America.
