Team,
Like many of you I’m sure, I haven’t been able to look away from the news coverage coming out of Afghanistan as a humanitarian crisis unfolds before us, with the Taliban seizing power and foreign powers evacuating the country.
Left to themselves, the people of Afghanistan — specifically the women who broke barriers to receive an education and advocate for human rights and the soldiers and translators who worked alongside U.S. troops to defend their country — now face the dangers and uncertainty of life under a cruel and repressive Taliban regime intent on revenge.
It’s shocking. It’s devastating. And it’s easy to feel powerless.
But we, as a nation, can do something about it that is far more effective than continuing a decades-long military intervention. We must evacuate our allies in danger in Afghanistan, especially the women leaders who are in imminent danger under the new regime, and ensure they have a home here in the United States.
United We Dream Action is calling on the Biden administration to do everything in its power to welcome more Afghan refugees immediately and account for the damage in Afghan lives lost that the U.S. has contributed to over the past 20 years.
Public pressure during this critical time will be key, so we’re asking you to join us, friend. We’ve proven that grassroots advocacy can advance our causes before, and now it’s time to raise our voices for the people of Afghanistan.
Sign on to our petition to demand the Biden administration welcome and process as many refugees as possible amidst the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Afghanistan:
Thank you for supporting our cause for a more just and compassionate society that welcomes immigrants and refugees of all kinds.
Nestor, United We Dream Action
