Two new reports from the TransPop study
NEW RESEARCH
** Transgender people more likely than cisgender people to avoid health care
due to cost
------------------------------------------------------------
A recent report from TransPop ([link removed]) provides new insight into transgender health and health care access. Despite the high level of insurance coverage, transgender people were more likely than cisgender people to have avoided care due to cost. Only 64% of transgender people accessed specialized transgender-related health care, but 82% said that they would like to access it.

** Increased odds of cardiovascular disease linked to minority stress for
transgender people
------------------------------------------------------------
Another report from TransPop ([link removed]) underscores the need for quality health care for transgender people. Transgender people had greater odds of discrimination, psychological distress, and adverse childhood experiences—stressors that are associated with increased odds of a cardiovascular condition. Transgender people were more likely than cisgender people to be current smokers, and transgender women had more than three times greater risk of venous thromboembolism, compared to cisgender women.
