We are close to passing a historic $3.5 trillion budget that invests in people, families and communities.

The U.S. House is returning to Washington on Monday —and a handful of Democratic members of Congress are standing in the way of enacting the historic investments called for in the Senate's budget.

We must apply maximum pressure to demand the Congress invest in health care, housing, child care, and paid leave. We have started to lift millions of children out of poverty through the Child Tax Credit —we cannot let that expire. We have the chance to create good jobs, and to create a pathway to citizenship for millions of immigrants. We must not fall short on investments in our future. Can you chip in $5 or more today to get our targeted digital ad up and running to demand members of Congress vote 'yes' on this long-overdue investment?

Here is a sneak peak of the ad we are working on. We plan to deploy it in the Congressional Districts where members have balked at supporting these historic investments. We need these members of Congress to get on board! We need to remind them to be bold!

It's our job to tell Congress that this is our chance to fight for our future, to fight for housing needs, more home care for the aging and people with disabilities, child tax credits, nutrition, health care, child care, paid leave, and much more. And we must remind them that we can afford to invest in our future, when we finally ask corporations and the wealthy to pay their fair share. That's why we are planning to run these digital ads back in their home districts, so their own constituents tell them they must pass this essential Build Back Better agenda.

The $3.5 trillion budget which passed the Senate is the first step towards enacting a set of once-in-a-generation investments, while finally asking the wealthy and corporations to pay their fair share. The House must pass it too, and then Congress must follow up with detailed legislation to create jobs and shared economic progress. Our people and our economy need more child care, home care, and paid leave. We must close the Medicaid coverage gap for people now denied care, prevent evictions and hunger, keep millions of children out of poverty by extending the Child Tax Credit, invest in green jobs, offer legal status for immigrants who contribute so much to our country, and so much more.

Now, the House of Representatives needs to do its part. But the vote will be very close, and nine swing votes in Congress have already signaled they may not vote for the Senate budget bill.¹

Budgets are about priorities. And we have a fundamental choice: Invest in human needs —or continue to fall short. John, can you help us pass these essential investments by chipping in to power our targeted digital ad campaign?
