** VICTORY! Early Voting Site Will Be Established On Arizona Tribe’s Reservation ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to a recent settlement, Pima County, AZ will establish an early voting site and make voting more accessible to the 4,000 residents of the Pascua Yaqui reservation in time for the 2022 midterm elections.
The freedom to vote is the cornerstone of democracy. As a result of this settlement, Pascua Yaqui Tribe members will no longer have to travel two-to-three hours roundtrip just to vote at the nearest early voting site.
This is a significant victory for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, and CLC was humbled to be a part of the legal team that represented them.

** John Lewis Bill’s Introduction Is Critical First Step Toward Promoting Fair Representation ([link removed])

On Monday, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell introduced the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, otherwise known as the VRAA or H.R. 4. The House is expected to pass the bill next week. Then the pressure will be on the Senate to act.

Last week, CLC released its first-ever State Scorecard, a report that examines how states have changed their vote-by-mail and early voting laws during their 2021 legislative sessions. This will be a crucial resource in the fight to protect the freedom to vote.

So far this year, CLC has filed multiple complaints against members of Congress from both parties for failure to comply with the STOCK Act. CLC’s latest complaint involves Sen. Rand Paul and a stock trade related to COVID-19 that was disclosed 16 months late.

Just in time for the 2020 Census data release, CLC relaunched PlanScore.org ([link removed]) . The free web tool is intended to assist map drawers in ensuring they create fair maps, and for advocates and voters to hold them accountable to fair districting standards.

** LAWSUIT: CLCA And ECU Sue FEC To Take Action On Super PAC Coordination ([link removed])

CLC Action and End Citizens United are suing the Federal Election Commission for failing to hold U.S. Sen. Rick Scott accountable for illegally coordinating with a $29 million super PAC. To reduce political corruption, we need a stronger FEC to enforce campaign finance laws and hold political candidates accountable.

A recent CLC study found that, out of 25 promises Joe Biden made on the campaign trail to reform ethics in government, he has only fulfilled three as president. (And yes, we made a chart.) This week, on behalf of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and its Colorado affiliate, CLC filed comments urging the Colorado Independent Redistricting Commission to redraw its proposed voting maps. The preliminary plans splinter Latino voters across multiple districts, and PlanScore reports just a 1% chance that Latino voters could elect their preferred candidate under the proposed maps.
