Contacted members of the Kakataibo tribe, who are fighting to protect the forest for their uncontacted relatives.
Dear Jack,
I want to share with you a HUGE recent success for uncontacted tribes in Peru, indigenous organizations, and our global Uncontacted Tribes campaign.

After a long fight and the support of thousands of you who emailed, tweeted and protested, Peru's government has finally signed the Kakataibo Indigenous Territory into law!

Herlín Odicio (pictured) is president of the Kakataibo indigenous organization, FENACOKA, which leads the local campaign to protect their forest.

For Herlín, the news was overwhelming. "I'm crying tears of joy! It was a difficult, tiring struggle but [we] never let up. I will keep fighting for my people."
It's a milestone for this campaign, but it's a milestone on a looooong journey! We still have 4 more indigenous territories ([link removed]) to push for, and once created they will need constant protection from invaders.

...and this is only in Peru! Survival is fighting for the protection of uncontacted tribes' lands around the world (and there are over 100 such tribes in Brazil alone).

Last month's success is proof that your actions DO work. So, today I want to thank you and share with you some of the other actions that you can take to support the activism of tribal people like Herlín.

Please, take a couple of minutes of your time to help stop the annihilation of uncontacted tribes.

With thanks,

Teresa Mayo
