It’s August — back-to-school season. Thanks to your support, The Trevor Project is working to help end LGBTQ youth suicide by helping students feel protected and respected in the school environment. This is life-saving work.

Here’s why: our research shows that when LGBTQ young people have one affirming space and one accepting adult in their lives, they are significantly less likely to consider suicide.*

For many, school is that one space — and a professor, teacher, coach, or principal is that one accepting adult.

The past year has been incredibly difficult for so many, but we also know that LGBTQ youth already faced unique challenges that were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s essential that LGBTQ young people are welcomed and accepted when they return to school. 

As part of the Trevor community, you and I are helping to make sure LGBTQ students feel affirmed, protected, and respected:

EDUCATION:

Trevor’s training programs, workshops, online tools, and curricula help educators support LGBTQ students.
 

ADVOCACY:

Trevor’s “Model School District Policy on Suicide Prevention” helps schools prevent and intervene during a student crisis, and provides resources to support after a death by suicide.
 

SUPPORT:

Trevor’s crisis services reach LGBTQ young people experiencing anxiety, depression, and stress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
