John -- A recent report from Politico confirmed that "strategists from both parties predict that some states will finalize maps as soon as September." And a handful of our target states like Colorado, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina and Virginia “are expected to move quickly in considering new maps.”

Now that we’re in the next phase of the redistricting process, can we count on you to make a donation and support our quest to end gerrymandering as the map drawing process takes off?

This should not be a partisan fight. Nearly 9 out of every 10 voters oppose partisan gerrymandering. Yet, we’re already seeing attempts by conservatives to rig the map drawing process for their party, once again going against the will of the people.

On the same day that the Census Bureau dropped redistricting data, Michigan’s independent redistricting commission voted to hire a law firm that has a history of defending racial and partisan gerrymandered maps. And a few days before the data dropped, map drawers in North Carolina held just one last-minute hearing on mapping guidelines and did so with minimal notice and access.

The good news is that the opportunity for advocacy is infinite. In fact, the more we engage -- the easier the fight becomes and the closer we move toward winning the battle.

We need to combat the onslaught of attempts by conservatives to undermine our democracy NOW -- before it’s too late.
