John - we wanted to send you a quick update on what's happening in the North Carolina Senate race.
The Situation: North Carolina is one of the seats Democrats have the best chance to flip in 2022 according to CNN. It’s an open seat, and our Republican opponents are running far to the right to try to win Donald Trump’s base — putting them entirely out of step with North Carolinians’ values.
The Problem: Republican super PACs are attempting to buy this seat. Our failed former governor Pat McCrory and Trump’s hand-picked nominee Ted Budd both already have super PACs that have collectively raised more than $5.5 million to spend in this race. They’re going to try to use limitless dark money to drown out Cheri’s message.
Our Plan: Democrats’ path to victory is clear. We need to build a grassroots movement of people all across this state. Cheri can do that. She is speaking to the real needs and hopes of our families — giving a voice to those who feel ignored and left behind by Washington. Her message can inspire the voters we need to turn out and make sure they get to the polls.
So this is where we need your help. The only way we can go toe to toe with Republican super PACs is with a lot of grassroots support.
It may not seem like $3 can make a difference against millions from super PACs, but it does. Every dollar adds up in a big way and sends a clear message that the people are far more powerful than any amount of dark money.
