The state has experienced over 4 million cases of COVID-19 and 64,000 deaths. The fatalities were far from evenly distributed. More than half of all cases were among Latinos, even though they make up less than 40% of the population. Latinos accounted for nearly one in two deaths in California.

But many reading the judicial tea leaves believe this extension won’t last long. Justice Brett Kavanaugh indicated ([link removed]) in a ruling earlier this year that the CDC probably didn’t have the authority to extend the ban but allowed it to continue until July 31 to bring about an orderly conclusion. Expect the Court to strike down this latest extension sometime soon – which will ramp up liberal pressure on Congress and state legislatures to act.

Is it a hub of progress or a plaything for progressive politicians? Why is it a nightmare for so many while simultaneously a dream for so few?
