John,
The profiteering didn’t stop when Donald Trump’s presidency did.
In the months since Trump left office, 46 candidates for federal and state office have visited Trump properties—from which he profits—more than 60 times, including former White House Press Secretary and current Arkansas gubernatorial candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Rep. Mo Brooks and Congressional candidate and anti-Muslim activist Laura Loomer. For more, read our full investigation.
Many of these candidates have been endorsed by Trump shortly after visiting or holding a fundraising event at one of his properties, demonstrating his commitment to rewarding those who enrich him.
While Trump’s conflicts of interest may no longer be in the daily spotlight, we can’t ignore his ongoing corruption. He’s just as influential in the Republican party as he was when he was in the Oval Office, and one thing is clear: he’s going to continue using his influence for profit, no matter what. Here at CREW, we’ll be tracking him every step of the way.
Thank you,
Noah Bookbinder
