Why American Youth are Drawn to Socialism

By: Sara Bess Kemeny

Twenty years ago, socialism was a dirty word. How times have changed. Among many young people today, it’s now a badge of moral decency.

According to recent polling, the majority of millennials believe that supporting Democrat socialist candidates and income equality makes you a compassionate person. Many, like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), find capitalism evil and “irredeemable.”

One Axios study found that 61% of Americans between 18 and 24 view socialism positively. In another study, 55% of working-age women said they would rather live in a socialist country than a capitalist one.

Never mind that the idea that socialist systems are kinder and more compassionate is completely unfounded. In fact, the evidence suggests otherwise.

Presidential Hopeful: Let’s Strip Tax-Exempt Status from Churches that Believe in God’s Design for Marriage
By: Bruce Hausknecht

Presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke stoked the flames of religious bigotry last Thursday at the CNN Town Hall concerning LGBT issues when he responded to a question from CNN anchor Don Lemon:
“Do you think religious institutions—like colleges, churches, charities—should they lose their tax-exempt status if they oppose same-sex marriage?” asked Lemon.

“Yes,” O’Rourke responded. “There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone or any institution, any organization in America, that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us. So as President, we’re going to make that a priority, and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans.”

Focus on the Family and The Daily Citizen advocates neither the election nor defeat of candidates for office. The Daily Citizen merely reports what they say regarding issues which affect families.

Navy SEALS Prepare to Bike 1,000 Miles in 10 Days to Fundraise for Neuro-Rehab Patients

By: Zachary Mettler

The Daily Citizen had the great privilege to interview three former Navy SEALS, two of whom are participating in a 1,000 mile long, 10 day bike ride to raise money for the VIP NeuroRehabilitation Center in San Diego, CA. The SEALS have formed an organization, Beyond the Teams, which seeks to, “fight for those who can’t fight for themselves by bringing awareness and financial resources to any disabled military personnel, veterans, handicapped children, and others.”

For Beyond the Teams’ first project, five former SEALS will bike down the east coast from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Fort Pierce, Florida. The ride will start on October 28 and go through November 9. “All five riders graduated in Class 98 of BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training) 41 years ago.”

This Year’s Theme for the March for Life – “Life Empowers: Pro-Life is Pro-Woman”
By: Brittany Raymer

For the 2020 March for Life, the organizers have decided to honor the suffragist movement and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. The theme is “Life Empowers: Pro-Life is Pro-Woman.” It’s an attempt to change the messaging that often permeates the culture that being pro-life is somehow anti-women.

For years, Planned Parenthood and other abortion activists have successfully been able to frame their cause as one that supports equality and female empowerment by claiming that abortion remains a critical component of women’s health care. This false notion is wrong and based on the premise that the procedure itself is somehow a benefit to women. Sadly, that isn’t the case.

“Smartphone Sanity” : New Book Provides Help for Parents – Part 1

By: Jeff Johnston

A few years ago, I sat in a classroom at my sons’ school, listening to a panel of teens talk about smartphones and social media. I was horrified as the students described the bullying they had seen or experienced on social media platforms, the sexual images that some teens shared with others, the ease with which their friends circumvented parental controls, and the way students set up “fake” accounts for their family, with “real” accounts for their friends.

All that from a 15-minute workshop. Of course none of the teens on the panel admitted to participating in any of these activities – but they knew other students who had.
