FAMILIES BELONG TOGETHER

========================

John — The U.S. has a moral obligation to get Afghan women, children and families to safety immediately after leading 20 years of conflict abroad.

It is unconscionable for our government to turn a blind eye while Afghans flee for their lives. We must show President Biden that there are an overwhelming number of people in the U.S. ready to welcome Afghans in a way that is humane, just, and dignified to ensure he expedites the processing and entry for the tens of thousands of Afghans who deserve safety and protection.

Together we can welcome Afghan families into our communities, at airports, and even into our own homes, and fill in where our government is falling short. Join us to show Biden that we are ready to welcome Afghan refugees with dignity, and get connected to support families as they arrive. [[link removed]]

Pledging your name won’t commit you to a specific activity immediately, and after all of us have added our names, The Families Belong Together team will follow up with opportunities to get involved.

The U.S. created the nightmare Afghan families are facing. As of now, the Biden administration’s response has been lackluster: years-long delays in processing visas for interpreters before the U.S. troop withdrawal, and an almost hand-ringing approach to asylum seekers after.

It’s a response that echoes the inhumanity we see every day in our immigration system: from children in cages along the border to ICE-raids in communities across the country.

We have to end this, and we can do that by showing up for Afghans where our government isn’t. Add your name to pledge to be there for Afghan families and welcome them with dignity. [[link removed]]

We are more than capable of providing dignified resettlement options for Afghan children and families who are at risk right now. We must keep our promise to protect Afghans whose lives are in jeopardy right now. Now is the time to do the right thing. Together, we can do this.

Thanks for all you do,
Erin Mazursky, Organizing Director
