The People’s Lawyers are hard at work for the people.
Friend, it bears repeating that Democratic Attorneys General are the People’s Lawyers, because every day they are hard at work fighting for the People and for our communities.
One of the issues our Dem AGs watch closely is consumer protections – making sure that whether you’re dealing with your health insurance company, your student loan provider, or your landlord, your rights are defended.
And when it comes to defending rights, it’s been a busy year for Dem AGs. Take a look at this quick digest and see just how much work they’ve been doing to curb abuses of power against consumers, workers, and tenants – efforts that are more important than ever (and you can support that work right here).
✔️ Massachusetts’ AG Healey secured damages for construction workers who were cheated out of a fair wage after a company cooked their payroll records
✔️ New York’s AG James secured restitution for millions who were denied mental health coverage
✔️ Minnesota’s AG Ellison secured back pay for Minnesota restaurant workers shortchanged during COVID
✔️ Michigan AG Nessel is urging leniency for storm-affected customers after severe weather hit the state just last week
✔️ Rhode Island AG Neronha is calling for greater accountability for businesses that deceive consumers
✔️ California AG Bonta recently reminded the state’s tenants of their rights and protections under COVID-19, especially with eviction moratoriums phasing out
✔️ Connecticut’s AG Tong went after insurers who improperly billed the state’s Medicaid program
And if these examples aren’t enough to prove that Dem AGs are fighting for the People, a coalition of 17 Dem AGs are calling on the U.S. Senate to pass the PRO Act to protect workers’ rights to organize, unionize, and bargain.
It’s easier to sleep knowing the People’s Lawyers are on the job, isn’t it? With your help we can keep them there.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in the next two years, we need your support – will you chip in today?
