The Innocence Project’s birthday is coming up in a few days. As we reflect on 29 years of fighting for the wrongfully convicted, I think it’s important to talk not only about the work we do to get clients out of prison, but everything we do to support exonerees once they’re free.

A key part of what we do at the Innocence Project is ensuring that exonerees have a smooth transition to life outside of prison, and our Exoneree Fund helps do just that.

So in honor of our 29th birthday on Tuesday, will you make a donation to help support the Innocence Project Exoneree Fund?

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been met with many new challenges over the past year and half. We’ve used the funds to help some clients pay months of rent because they lost work due to COVID, to pay for a hotel so a client could quarantine separately from his wife and keep his family safe, and to help with transportation so that our clients could avoid public transportation and minimize their exposure to COVID.

Unfortunately, we are still in the midst of this pandemic, and many of our clients live in some of the states that are currently being hit the hardest, including Florida and Louisiana. This has been an exceptionally difficult year for everyone, and we know it will take time to recover from these hardships, but we’re committed to supporting our exonerees and our clients who have yet to be freed through these difficult times.

We need to keep growing our Exoneree Fund so we’ll have the capacity to help them all, no matter the circumstance. So, in honor of the Innocence Project’s 29th birthday, will you please make a donation to our Exoneree Fund?
