— Right now, we’re getting calls from LGBTQ people in Afghanistan who are asking for help to escape the nightmare scenario in their country.

Before the Taliban came back to power, these individuals were already in grave danger if they expressed their true selves. And now that they're in control again, the Taliban may return to punishing consensual same-sex relationships with public executions.

I’m as horrified as you are, , which is why Immigration Equality is calling on the U.S. State Department to protect LGBTQ people. By processing them immediately as refugees within their own country, they have a chance to get out before it’s too late. We have a real chance to save some of the most endangered in our community—let's use it.

Contact your representative and ask:

“Will Representative [your rep’s last name] sign on to Representative Pappas’s letter calling on the State Department to immediately evacuate LGBTQ refugees from Afghanistan?”

I’m so proud to be part of a global community of individuals and non-governmental organizations that are stepping up to lend a hand to our community in Afghanistan.

I know that with the strength of our thousands of supporters, and the far-reaching network of LGBTQ rights defenders worldwide, we can save lives. But only if we act right now.

Ask your representative to call on the State Department to process LGBTQ people as refugees within Afghanistan and other countries where it can be a death sentence for them simply to exist.

Call or email your representative and ask:

“Will Representative [your rep’s last name] add their name to Representative Pappas’s letter calling on the State Department to immediately evacuate LGBTQ refugees from Afghanistan?”

Thank you,

Aaron Morris, Executive Director
