Dear Friend,
Chicago’s public school workers are once again teaching all of us what workers and communities can win when we stand up and fight back.
For a second day, Chicago’s public school workers are out on strike to ensure workers and communities get what they deserve. They are fighting for increased funding, smaller classrooms, and nurses and counselors in every Chicago public school.
But the workers won’t stop there. Their strike is about demanding deep transformative change to address the roots of injustice, segregation, and poverty -- through the collective bargaining power of workers. Workers at Chicago’s public schools are not only calling for increased support for schools, but are also making historic demands like more affordable housing for homeless students and sanctuary schools that defend immigrant students and families. Chicago public school workers are standing up for themselves, and their communities. They are bargaining for the common good.
Chicago public school workers are teaching us and reminding us that we deserve more. And they deserve our support and solidarity.
Please join us at ALIGN in showing our solidarity with Chicago public school workers, until this strike is won. Please sign this petition to tell Chicago Mayor Lightfoot that you support workers’ demands to put communities and students first.
In Solidarity Always,
Maritza Silva-Farrell
