Did you know that this year alone, far-right state lawmakers have introduced 400 restrictive voting bills in 49 states that make it harder to vote?

Frankly, what really concerns me is that 30 of those laws have been enacted.

The Supreme Court has gutted the Voting Rights Act, leaving it virtually ineffective and paving the way for the extreme voter suppression laws sweeping the country. But we can do something about it.

Next week, the House will vote on legislation that would restore the 1965 Voting Rights Act to its full intended purpose: protecting the right to vote for every American -- no matter their race, gender, or zip code.

TEAM DUTCH POLL:
Do you support protecting the right to vote for all Americans? [[link removed]]

YES >> [[link removed]] NO >> [[link removed]]

The voting rights legislation that’s being considered by the House is named after my friend and colleague, the late Congressman John Lewis. John embodied the civil rights movement and this bill would honor his legacy as a civil rights hero who put his own life on the line to protect the voting rights of all Americans.

I intend to do everything I can to continue John’s fight for voting rights to ensure every American’s voice is represented in our democracy. I hope you will join me in this fight, too.

Your friend,

Dutch
