Friend,
My heart is broken over the tragedy happening in Afghanistan. Like so many veterans, I left a piece of my heart in Afghanistan.
There will be time in the weeks and months ahead to debate what went wrong during the evacuation this past week -- and you can be sure I will be the first one there asking the tough questions. Right now, our immediate focus must be to do everything we can to evacuate all Americans and as many of our Afghan partners, women, and children as possible.
As our Afghan evacuees make it to the U.S. they will need our help. Many of them will arrive with nothing and we must welcome them with open arms. Here are a few organizations looking for help:

* International Rescue Committee Denver >> [link removed]
* African Community Center >> [link removed]
And to the service men and women who dedicated their lives to our country, please know your service matters. You took the oath and answered the call when your country called for it. You should be very proud of that. Please reach out if you need help.

More to come in the days and weeks ahead.
Thanks,
Jason
