Dear John,

My family and I are preparing to send my three year old back to daycare this fall.

Thanks to our daycare's openness about their plans, I have confidence to send her back. But I also recognize that I have privilege. I have flexibility at my job to do what I need to do to arrange for my child’s care (and for my parents’ — yes, I’m a Sandwich Generation caregiver), and I have paid leave if and when I need it.

This shouldn’t be a privilege — it should be a right. Everyone should have access to the paid family leave they need to look after their families, and access to quality, affordable childcare they can trust.

That’s what we’re working for at Caring Across Generations, and we need your help to keep fighting for it. Will you make a contribution to help us continue to fight for the policies that will keep all of our families safe?

A cartoon shows a young Black mother looking after a child while on the phone with an older Black couple -- her parents.

I’m a working mom. I need to know that my child is getting the education she needs — and is socializing with people other than just family — while giving me time to work in peace. That’s something all working moms need.

We cannot go back to the workforce of yesterday which did not hold space to prioritize our values or the needs of family caregivers.

Changing the narrative around care and elevating our collective expectations, holding elected officials accountable to both securing quality jobs for care providers and providing access to supports and services for working care families, is critical yet costly. We're reaching out to key Senators and members of Congress to pass a historic investment in care through President Biden's Build Back Better Agenda. That means we have to reach new audiences to amplify our collective call for change, which takes consistent support from dedicated caregivers such as yourself.

Caring Across relies on supporters like you to make our advocacy happen. We’re making incredible progress, and your support can help keep the momentum going. Will you make a contribution today to help us build a better future for all of our families?

Wishing you and your little ones a healthy and happy start to the school year!

With care,
