Friend,
The blue wave you brought to the polls in November 2018 brought an impressive group of new members, and some of the best of the bunch are a group of five women who came to Congress after distinguished careers in national security.
On the Hill, they have even picked up a nickname - the Badasses. Former CIA officers Elissa Slotkin (MI-08) and Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), Air Force veteran Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), and former Naval officers Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) and Elaine Luria (VA-02).
These five women know what it’s like to swear an oath to defend our Constitution — they’ve done it before. They overcame the odds to win in tough seats all around the country, and they’re already leaders in the Congress on national security issues and more. As we respond to calamities like the President’s impulsive capitulation to Turkey two weeks ago which set off a Turkish invasion, endangered our Kurdish partners, and threatened to create the conditions for a resurgence of ISIS, we need their leadership.
But with their work comes partisan attacks, and they’re all facing tight races for re-election in 2020.
Elissa, Abigail, Mikie, Chrissy, and Elaine worked on the frontlines of national security to keep our country safe. Now they’re dedicated members of Congress who are delivering for their constituents with a focus on healthcare, infrastructure, and economic success for all. This has put them back on the frontlines — against a Republican party who aims to flip their districts back to red next year. We can’t let that happen.
We need Democrats like “the Baddasses” in Congress now more than ever. Will you split a contribution of $5 or more to their campaigns today to support them and keep the House blue?
