Hi John — it's Kim, your Campaigns Director here at Women's March. I'm emailing you today because it is time to finally pass the Equal Rights Amendment.
Women's Marchers across the nation have demanded it: Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
The U.S. House has already officially removed the time limit for passing the ERA — but the Senate *still* has yet to act. That is why we're calling on every person on this team to do at least one of two things:
Join Women's March and our feminist allies for an in-person rally on the steps of the Supreme Court next Thursday, August 26 at 12 p.m. ET. Leaders and activists from across the nation will be in attendance. RSVP to attend our in-person rally to tell the Senate to pass the ERA. Vaccinations are strongly encouraged, and masks required!
In addition to our rally at the Supreme Court, Women's March is gathering signatures of thousands of women and feminists from across the country who want to see the ERA passed.
We understand that not everyone will be able to join us in front of the Supreme Court in person — so by adding your name right now, you'll send a powerful and important message that passage of the ERA has support from every single state across the country, including District of Columbia.
Ratification of the ERA would confirm once and for all that equal rights under law is a core value in our Constitution. It would finally provide an explicit guarantee of protection against discrimination on the basis of sex, and it would end the patchwork of protections that currently exist at the federal, state, and local levels.
Together, we are telling the Senate loud and clear: There is no time limit on equality. They must remove the arbitrary time limit on the Equal Rights Amendment now.
Thank you for taking action in support of our rights. In solidarity,
Kim
