Hi there,
I wanted to make sure you saw the Governor’s response to Senate GOP Majority Leader Gazelka’s unbelievably hurtful op-ed in the Star Tribune this week.
This is what we’re up against next year. Minnesota Republicans up and down the ticket are rallying around President Trump and they’re prepared to spread his divisive message across our state at all costs.
It’s extremely dangerous. We need to be prepared to counter their negative attacks the way only we can -- with our One Minnesota message that recognizes our strength in unity.
I just ran the numbers. We’re $1,683 short of our goal and our deadline is at midnight. Will you chip in $5 or more to help us finish strong?

Thank you for supporting our work to elect allies next year who will help us overcome the politics of fear and division and fight for a brighter vision for the future of our state.

My friend,
Yesterday, Senate GOP Majority Leader Paul Gazelka published an op-ed in the Star Tribune praising President Trump after his visit to Minnesota last week.
His piece desperately tries to rewrite the story of President Trump’s failed trade war and the devastating consequences Minnesota farmers have faced because of it, his absurd $1.5 trillion tax giveaway to billionaires and ultra-wealthy corporations, and his relentless efforts to gut coverage for preexisting conditions 2.3 million Minnesotans rely on.
On top of it all, Majority Leader Gazelka goes to great lengths to downplay President Trump’s dangerous rhetoric and erratic decision making as nothing more than “humor” and “bravado.”
My friend, I’m not laughing right now. Are you?
It’s time for Minnesota leaders to acknowledge what we all know to be true: President Trump is trying to spread hate and division because he thinks it will help him win the election next year. Instead of joining us to condemn it last week when President Trump was in town unleashing his attacks directly on Minnesotans, Majority Leader Gazelka chose to embrace it. And that is deeply disappointing.
This is a perfect example of why it’s so important for us to take back the Minnesota Senate next year and elect allies who are prepared to lead with courage and join us in the fight for a brighter vision for our state.
To stay on track to hit our budget target this month so we can get it done, we need to raise $3,000 by Friday. Will you make a contribution of $5 or more to help us get there in time?
Senate Majority Leader Gazelka made sure to note in his op-ed that President Trump “almost won” Minnesota in 2016. And while that’s true, let’s remember what actually won (and with historic margins) just two years later: Our One Minnesota message that recognizes our strength in unity.
With your help, I know we will reject the politics of fear and division once again in 2020. Please, make a contribution that works for you today so we can see it through.
Thank you for everything.
I’m grateful,
Tim Walz
