John xxxxxx,

This has been a heartbreaking week as we watch the situations in Haiti and Afghanistan.

These tragic events represent extreme examples of why Democratic leadership on the global stage matters so much. We can rely on President Biden to work with Congress to decisively address foreign policy matters.

In Haiti, the Biden Administration has already dispatched a response team to aid early relief work, and we are coordinating with local authorities to support ongoing rescue efforts and plans to rebuild.

The situation in Afghanistan represents a different type of pain. Over the last two decades, we captured Osama Bin Laden and weakened al Qaeda. And while we work to end our presence safely, we must not abandon the women and children of Afghanistan.

So long as Democrats remain in power, America will always be a beacon of light and a source of strength for vulnerable people everywhere. We'll always do our part to protect freedom and champion democratic values across borders.

But John xxxxxx, we can't keep asking our service members to go in alone anymore. It's time for the world to genuinely invest in the United Nations to develop a robust and consensus-building institution truly capable of handling severe humanitarian challenges like Afghanistan and Haiti.

The people of Afghanistan and Haiti are in our hearts and on our minds as we keep a close eye on how these crises unfold. House Democrats will work closely with the Senate and the White House to appropriately address what these circumstances call for.

Keep the faith,

Hakeem
