Earlier this month, the Biden administration announced that the moratorium on federal student loan payments would be extended again until January 31, 2022.

This pause on student loan payments was originally intended to provide vital relief for Americans, including thousands of New Mexicans, struggling at the beginning of the pandemic.

Now, as we grapple with our country’s economic recovery, Democrats have been fighting to deliver critical relief for working families everywhere.

We’ve put money directly into the pockets of American workers and families, but there are many who continue to face financial challenges.

Permanently canceling student loan debt would significantly reduce the burden on millions of Americans, aid in rebuilding our economy, and address racial inequity — students of color are more likely to take on student debt and struggle to repay it.

It’s time that we ensure people of all backgrounds have the opportunity to further their education and achieve their goals.

I am happy to stand alongside my Democratic colleagues to call on President Biden to use his executive authority to cancel student loan debt. I need you in this fight with me:

Sign my petition today if you support boosting our economy and helping American families by canceling student loan debt. Please make your voice heard now: [[link removed]]

I’m committed to ensuring people across New Mexico and the country are not economically disadvantaged for continuing their education.

Con gratitud,

Ben Ray
