John,

President Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan is among the
worst-executed foreign policy decisions in modern American history.

While the President, Vice President, and White House Press Secretary have been
avoiding the American people in the midst of this crisis, Congressman Gallagher
has been stepping up to provide much-needed leadership.

In case you missed them, I wanted to share a few of Mike’s statements on the
situation and draw your attention to the recent interviews he’s given.

Bottom Line: “We have bungled this withdrawal. It's been a catastrophe.
There's no going back, we've had the Saigon moment. Now we need to do
everything possible to save as many lives as possible. You know, having had the
Saigon moment, we need the Dunkirk moment, we need to get everybody out. We
need to work with regional allies to provide asylum, at least on a temporary
basis, if we can't do this all ourselves.”

Bottom Line: “The fact that the President is going on TV and really throwing
our Afghan allies under the bus, spitting on the graves of the over 50,000
Afghans who sacrificed their lives fighting with us is a disgrace. It’s
unacceptable. And for the administration to equivocate in any way on the fact
that we will do everything possible to get our people out is also unacceptable.
This is America. We do not leave our people behind. We have to get our people
out as well as our Afghan allies.”

Bottom Line: “Our Pentagon shouldn’t be broadcasting an arbitrary date for
withdrawal. Our message should be we’re going to do what we need to do to get
our people out of there and however long it takes and however hard it is, we’re
not going to leave anybody behind. Andif the Taliban messes with us, we will
meet that with devastating consequences. But instead, the Biden administration
keeps bungling this withdrawal. I mean, this is an epic foreign policy
catastrophe. The President’s speech yesterday was a disgrace.

Bottom Line: “This is not what leadership looks like, this is what a complete
dereliction of duty looks like. This is what weakness looks like. And the fact
is, Biden's inability to own up to what is clearly a massive intelligence
failure, a failure of planning, and his attempt to cast blame on anyone but
himself just adds to the ongoing disgrace.”

As our team continues to monitor this rapidly evolving situation, we will keep
you updated on how Mike is stepping up to lead and what’s happening in
Afghanistan, Washington, and around the globe.

But first, we want to know where you stand on this issue. Your feedback is
crucial to Mike at all times, but especially in times of crisis like this.
