John,
My name is Mandela Barnes and I’m running for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin. As
the chair of the Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change, we brought
people together from all across the state to tackle this existential
crisis. The Task Force is a part of my work as Lieutenant Governor that I
am most proud of because it has encompassed everything – from the
environment and racial justice to economic opportunity and public health.
This is one of the reasons I’m running for U.S. Senate. We’re overdue when
it comes to acting on climate change, and I’m emailing because I need your
help. But first, I'd like to take a minute to share why your help is so
important – especially right now.
Just last week the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
announced that this past July was the planet’s hottest month on record.
That’s not all...
* Last week, the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC) released a major report on how the climate crisis is
having a catastrophic effect on our planet, and is only getting worse.
* Then the Sea Level project, developed by NASA, called Sea Level
Projection predicted the end of the Mexican coastline as we know it —
including spots like Acapulco, Cancun and Cabo San Lucas.
* And all across the country and the world, we are seeing extreme heat,
fires, and flooding – all a direct result of climate change.
It's been a tough news week for our fight against climate change. But if
there's ever been a time for us to recommit ourselves to this effort, it's
now.
The good news is that by expanding our Democratic majority in the Senate,
we will be up to the task to take on the climate crisis. So today I'm
asking for your help to show where our campaign stands on this important
issue:
[ [link removed] ]Donate now to DFA and my campaign so we can expand our Democratic
majority in the Senate and take bold action to address the existential
threat of climate change. We simply cannot afford to wait.
Taking action to address climate change is certainly about protecting our
planet for generations to come. But it's also about rebuilding our
infrastructure and putting millions of people back to work in jobs that
pay a living wage.
The latest report from the IPCC is yet another reminder that if we fail to
act, we will continue to see more wildfires, record-high temperatures,
severe weather events, rising sea levels, and flooding.
That is why I'm asking you today:
[ [link removed] ]Please, donate now if you agree that we need to expand our Democratic
majority in the Senate and act urgently and boldly to confront the
catastrophic effects of climate change.
Taking on the climate crisis is going to require all of us, which is why
it's so important that we're in this together. Thank you for supporting
our campaign in this fight.
All my best,
Mandela Barnes
