John -- I just joined the AOTL team after organizing for a congressional campaign and wanted to share why I think organizing will be key to success during this new phase of redistricting.

Organizing doesn’t happen on its own or overnight. It takes time and work, which is why AOTL has spent the past few years preparing for this moment.

Now that we’re here, we’re doing everything in our power to ensure we have well-trained and well-equipped grassroots volunteers that know the ins and outs of their state’s redistricting process.

Here’s what we’re doing in five of our target states to train supporters on how they can advocate for communities and hold map drawers accountable.

President Obama has said that he has always believed that “training is at the heart of organizing.” I couldn’t agree more.

We need to make sure our supporters are ready to attend redistricting hearings in their state and submit meaningful public comments to their redistricting commissions. Some maps may be drawn as early as September -- we have NO time to waste!
