This email may or may not shock you – but no matter your reaction, I hope you’ll join me and add your name to this urgent petition to protect our Emerge community.

Violent sexist harassment is on the rise online and in person. It's not just simple disagreement or passionate and principled debate. It's a concerted effort to make public life unbearable for women candidates and elected officials – with the express purpose of pushing them out of politics and into the shadows. We can’t let that stand.

Harassment against women in politics is a community problem – and it needs a community solution. We need an immediate groundswell of support from people like you to help make sure lawmakers prioritize preventing harassment before it happens and put pressure on social media giants to protect women online.
