Dear John,

As the events this week unfold in Afghanistan, the world stands horrified at the scenes coming out of the country. American citizens and Afghans are desperate to leave the country, women are facing oppression, and the estimated thousands of Christians in Afghanistan have been driven underground. In Afghanistan, and many other places around the world, it's never been more dangerous to follow Jesus.

With millions of Christians around the globe facing persecution, where can we turn for hope? We encourage you to watch an important Pray Vote Stand episode: Hope for the Persecuted. This episode from earlier this summer featured stories of courageous men and women who were willing to face these odds all for the sake of Jesus Christ. Tony Perkins led us in prayer for our brothers and sisters around the world facing persecution. Sam Brownback, former Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, shared the biblical basis for religious freedom and why Christians should be advocates for it. Frank Wolf, former U.S. Congressman (R-Va.), discussed the state of the persecuted church around the world. And Steve Berger, founding pastor of Grace Chapel in Tennessee and President and CEO of Ambassador Services International, gave practical steps that American churches can take to support international church bodies that are facing persecution.

As the situation in Afghanistan grows more dire by the minute, please join us in prayer using the prayer guide below.

To go deeper in prayer as we work to advance faith, family, and freedom in public policy and the culture from a biblical worldview, sign up for our prayer team emails. Thank you for standing!
