As you may have heard, Gov. Abbott has tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, he is showing no symptoms and Jan and I are praying for his swift recovery. I've been in touch with Gov. Abbott and I stand ready to assist him in any way possible.




Democrats Still AWOL...




Another week has gone by and the Texas Democrats are still nowhere to be found. Rest assured, the Texas Senate has been working diligently to pass the bills most important to Texans. In under one week, we have passed 13 legislative priorities on Gov. Abbott's second special session call, listed below.




Final passage of these bills will require the House Democrats who have fled the state to return to the House for a quorum. If they do not, these bills will die, but the Senate will pass them over and over again until the House finally has a quorum.

After 24 hours straight on the Senate floor, including a 15-hour filibuster, I am very proud that the Texas Senate passed Senate Bill 1 again! This is the fourth time we have passed this bill out of the Senate.




It is an outrage that the Democrats are continuing to spread lies about our Election Integrity legislation—so let me be clear:




SB 1 is about ensuring that every Texan trusts the outcome of every election in Texas. It increases transparency and ensures the voting rules are the same in every county across the state. It will require that signatures on mail-in ballots are verified so we know that ballots cast by mail belong to the people they say they belong to.




Texas has more early voting hours than many states, and SB 1 expands early voting hours. SB 1 also prohibits any election machine or counting machine from being connected to the internet, making hacking impossible and it will allow Texans to watch votes being counted on election night, as larger counties will be required to livestream the vote tabulation process.




While Texas House Democrats fled the state 37 days ago, I am fighting to make it easier to vote and hard to cheat. This fight is not over.

On August 17th, we broke ground on the new Alamo Exhibition Hall and Collections Building in San Antonio. Like millions of people everywhere, the Alamo and its story mean so much to me. Phil Collins, another huge fan of the Alamo, generously donated his entire collection of over 400 artifacts back in 2014 on behalf of the people of Texas. This building will display the entire Phil Collins Collection, among other pieces from the Alamo Collection. This is another step toward our improvements to the Alamo historic site, which will be completed in 2024-25.

During my visit, I was able to see an Alamo diorama made entirely of legos. We kept trying to guess how many legos it took to complete it. A modern day work of art, but also a weapon if stepped on! Check out this funny meme.

On October 2, 1835, Texas soldiers responded to their enemy's threats by flying the famous "Come and Take It" flag. This flag is a hallmark of Texas pride. It embodies the spirit of Texans. It represents the strength and resilience of our great state and the proud heroes who made it. It is more than just a flag.




Now, at UTSA, some are petitioning against the use of the "Come and Take It" slogan. [[link removed]]




This is just another example of the 'woke' crowd who would rather twist history to tell a story of convenience, rather than a story based on the facts. It is exactly why we don't want critical race theory taught in schools. It breeds false narratives about our history, just like they're trying to do at UTSA. Absolutely ridiculous.




For Those Who Love Trains

In the retro-style car learning about the "Big Boy." Union Pacific plays a major role in moving freight all across Texas, especially out of the Houston Port.




The last operational Union Pacific "Big Boy" engine toured Texas this week. I caught up with it in Houston. Weighing nearly 1.2 million pounds and able to pull 3700 tons, about 30 of these massive engines were built during WWII to pull longer trains with equipment and troops. It was also built to make it up the 1900 ft incline over the mountains in Utah. Thousands come out to see it everywhere it goes.
