Hi there,
Too many families feel an incredible financial strain due to the unaffordable costs of prescription drugs in our country.
At a round table earlier this month, a woman with multiple sclerosis told me that her life-saving medications can cost more than $85,000 a year. A father and daughter shared with me how they struggle to pay for diabetes medicine that’s been on the market for quite some time now.
Sitting down with residents of our great state at Potter’s House Bakery and Cafe in Rochester reinforced what we’ve heard from folks all over the district: Congress MUST take action to lower the costs of prescription drugs.
That’s why the House is focused on passing the Lower Drug Costs Now Act to lower costs and hold insurance companies accountable, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has vowed to stop us.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says that this plan will save Medicare $345 BILLION over the course of the next ten years.
When I head down to D.C., these conversations around healthcare that come up in every community we visit fuel my commitment to getting costs down for you and our neighbors.
Hearing from people directly and continuing to put pressure on the Senate will help us get this done in Washington.
Best,
Chris
