Urgent update from the crisis in Haiti

Friend, in the past few days, we've all been watching crises unfold around the world – faster than we can process the news. In Haiti, the impact of the devastating earthquake is now amplified by a tropical storm. It can all feel like a bit too much, but Friend, I want to remind you of something I’ve kept close to heart:
We can act. We can give whatever we can and protect vulnerable children. We can help.
Haiti needs that help desperately and quickly. Many are still missing while others need urgent medical attention, but Tropical Depression Grace is making that work very difficult:
"Countless Haitian families who have lost everything due to the earthquake are now living literally with their feet in the water due to the flooding."
- UNICEF's Representative in Haiti, Bruno Maes

Eleven years ago, a similar earthquake devastated Haiti. There weren’t enough supplies to care for everyone, a terrible cholera outbreak overwhelmed the healthcare system and tens of thousands lived without homes for far too long. We can’t let that happen again.
Within 24 hours after the quake, a UNICEF convoy had rushed emergency supplies for approximately 30,000 people to hospitals treating the injured. Even more UNICEF personnel are now on the ground in Haiti, working with partners to deliver tarpaulins for emergency shelter, latrines and showers; water reservoirs for safe water distribution; and hygiene kits containing water treatment tablets, soap, menstrual hygiene supplies and jerrycans.
We know they’ll need more supplies and that’s where we need you. Rush your gift now to ensure that we are prepared to help Haiti no matter what.
