Folks -- this is shocking news.
We’re experiencing historic water shortages at Lake Mead.
This water shortage triggered supply cuts to areas that need it most and that are impacted by the severe, ongoing drought. 10 Western governors have called for federal drought disaster aid, including me.
This scarcity will lead to a 7% cut in water supply provided by Lake Mead. Less water from Lake Mead leads to difficult decisions in allotting water between agriculture and cities.
This drought is a direct consequence of climate change. As I fight tooth and nail to prevent the effects of climate change, I need your support. Can I get you to sign on in support of fighting climate change in Nevada?
Lake Mead is at its lowest levels in decades, and this ongoing drought is threatening to eliminate crops, depress yields, and bring out extreme levels of pests and disease that will further impact Nevada’s climate.
This water shortage spells out dire consequences for Nevada if we don’t act now. As governor, I’ve worked tirelessly to fight climate change and its effects on our state. Can I count on you to sign on to support the work I’ve been doing fighting climate change in Nevada?
Thank you,
Steve Sisolak
