The running theme of 2021? Fighting to protect our freedom to vote.

We’ve fought in state legislatures. We’ve fought in the Senate. And last week, we delivered over 400,000 petition signatures to the White House, calling on President Biden to do the right thing and demand the Senate end the filibuster so we can finally pass voting rights legislation.

Next up, we’re taking to the streets to show our legislators that we won’t stay quiet while our voting rights are on the line. On Saturday, August 28th, we’ll be marching in cities across the country—including Washington—to protect our voting rights. The longer the year goes on, the more voter suppression laws we see getting passed in state legislatures.

How do we tell our lawmakers that we won’t accept this attack on our freedom to vote? We take a stand. 30 voter suppression laws have been passed in 18 states and more are sure to follow.

This has been a year of people taking a stand when it matters most. We’ve seen it when Texas Democrats left their state legislature to defend against voter suppression laws. We’ve seen it when our partners, Black Voters Matter, recreated the historic Freedom Rides this past May. And we’ll see it in two weeks when our community marches to protect our voting rights.

Thanks for everything you do!

P.S. Not feeling comfortable about joining an event in person? No problem! Make a call to your senators, urging them to pass a new Voting Rights Act—and not let the filibuster stand in the way.
