As you know, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer recently unveiled his bill to legalize marijuana at the federal level.
In meetings with key Senate offices this week, we learned that Altria -- the maker of Marlboro cigarettes and owners of Juul who have heavily invested in marijuana -- will be meeting with Senate staff in the coming days in an attempt to influence them to support this bill.
As it stands, the bill also contains no serious provision that would prevent the marijuana industry from being taken over by large, multi-national organizations, such as Altria and other tobacco and alcohol conglomerates— who are already taking steps to corner the marijuana market.
