Dear Friend,

Over the past few days, we have all witnessed the devastating humanitarian crisis rapidly unfolding in Afghanistan. In a matter of days, the Taliban’s rapid takeover of the country has left thousands of people fleeing for their lives, with the terrifying prospect of what may await if they remain. Of particular concern are Afghans who have assisted the U.S. government. USCRI Joins 70 Organizations Supporting Afghan SIVs and their Evacuation ([link removed]) .

This is an ongoing crisis and won’t end any time soon.

We anticipate that many of these refugees will seek refuge in the United States in the next few months and settle in our communities. Like you, we welcome them. Our network of field offices and partner agencies around the country have helped refugees throughout each major global crisis and are prepared to do so again.

Afghan refugees and their families will need significant assistance when they arrive, and we at USCRI stand ready to meet their needs with resettlement services ([link removed] ) and support.

Like many Americans glued to the horrifying images on the news, you may feel helpless about what you can do to help. But know this: you are not helpless. You can make a difference in helping those refugees who will be resettling in our communities. You can help rebuild lives. ([link removed])

So far, there are more than 500 individuals and families that have either arrived or are scheduled to arrive through the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program to USCRI sites throughout the country. Some of our staff are already deployed to Ft. Lee in Virginia to assist in processing – and welcoming – even more. We are asking you to partner in helping these refugees and their families find a safe haven in our communities. Through your support, you can be a beacon of light to those who are suffering and help pave a more promising future for these families.

Won’t you consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support our efforts to assist these refugees? ([link removed])
