Hello,
In this week's edition, we'll be discussing the philosophy of self-improvement, the disposable male crisis and how a Hells Angel taught me to deal with unpredictable people.
** On The Philosophy of Self-Improvment
------------------------------------------------------------
There's humility in determining what it is you can actually manage that is why you aim low. I must clarify here, I don’t mean don’t aim nor do I mean don’t aim up. You have to accept the fact that you can set yourself a goal that you can attain, and there's not going to be much glory in it to begin with. If you're not in very good shape, the goal that you today could attain tomorrow isn't very glorious, but it's a lot better than nothing and it's far better than blaming someone else.
There's a statement in the New Testament. It's called the Matthew principle and economists use it to describe how the world economy works: ‘to those who have everything more will be given. From those who have nothing, everything will be taken.’
It is very pessimistic in some sense because it means that as you start to fail, you fail more and more rapidly. It also means that as you start to succeed, you succeed more and more rapidly. You take an incremental step and you can now lift 55 pounds instead of 52.5 pounds. At first, you might think it is meagre but over time it starts to compound on you. So a small step today puts you in a position to take a slightly bigger step the next day. You do that for two or three years and you're starting to stride.

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson:
"You are perfectly suitable as a companion, but in no way should your genetic material be allowed to propagate itself into the next generation. Right, that is the core of rejection, and it cuts to the bone."
Warren Farrell:
"The lack of father involvement is the single most predictor of suicide; it is one of the biggest predictors of a child not graduating high school, dropping out of school."

A Hells Angels Story on How to Deal with Unpredictable People | Jordan B. Peterson
Jordan B. Peterson:
"He was watching me as a rough guy watches you and a rough guy watches you like this, he thinks. If you say one thing that indicates contempt, you're going to bloody well pay for it. And so I was finding my words like, you know I was crossing a swamp and trying to look for the rocks underneath the surface."
