John,
As you are likely aware, Governor
Gavin Newsom is the subject of a recall campaign spearheaded by
anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, and anti-immigrant Q-Anon conspiracy
theorists. We can’t let those who don’t believe in science, health,
and equity roll back the hard-earned gains we have made to beat back
COVID-19 and help our cities and entire state recover.
By now, you should have received your vote by mail
ballot for the September 14th election. I urge you to VOTE NO on the
recall to affirm your support for Governor Newsom and the hard work he
has done to safely get kids back in school, protect families from
eviction, and provide billions in direct relief to individuals and
struggling small businesses.
Beating back this recall is
critical to our collective efforts to end this pandemic, to protect
the health of our economy and the health of our environment. The
stakes are just too high to sit this election out.
I hopped on the phones myself in
the last week to call voters and urge them to VOTE NO and return their
ballot ASAP, no postage needed. All ballots must be postmarked no later than
September 14th. Ballots can also be
dropped off at the Voting Center at City Hall any day or at any
polling place on Election Day. You can find all the ways you can vote
here.
Here’s what you need to know about voting in this recall election.
There are two questions on your ballot and these are my
recommendations:
- Question #1: Vote NO
- Question #2: Leave question 2 blank. You can vote for a
candidate in the 2nd question, but you are NOT required to do so.

It’s going to take all of us
working together to beat back this anti-science recall.
Sincerely,
Mayor London Breed
P.S. If you would like to help the
recall opponents turn out the vote to ensure Governor Newsom remains
in office please sign up to text
or phone bank
today. We can’t take this election for granted!
