From the desk of Larry Hogan Wednesday, August 18
Good morning –
By now you've seen what is unfolding in Afghanistan.
Marylanders and Americans who sacrificed their lives deserved better than this. Our local allies that are now trapped in the country deserved better than this.
These tragic and heartbreaking events are the result of a rushed and irresponsible troop withdrawal.
Washington politicians did this...not the brave women and men who put OUR safety ahead of theirs overseas every day.
Afghan citizens —our allies— bravely risked their lives to provide invaluable support for many years to our efforts as interpreters and support staff, and we have a moral obligation to help them. That's why earlier this week, I announced Maryland stands ready to receive Afghan refugees. Maryland receives more of these visas than nearly any other state, but we are willing to do even more. It is the least we can do. At this critical moment in our nation's history, I want to hear from you.
Please tell us your thoughts on the tragic events in Afghanistan. >> Add my input <<
Thank you for sharing. Please continue to pray for the safety of every American and all our allies who still remain in harm's way.
Sincerely, Larry Hogan |
