More Muni Service!

Just in time for the start of school, Muni has expanded evening service, restored 8 routes, and added a new route!

We're thrilled to welcome back the M Ocean View, 5R Fulton Rapid, 18 46th Avenue, 28 19th Avenue, 31 Balboa, 35 Eureka, 36 Teresita and 39 Coit, as well as the new 58 Park Merced.

The 31, M and additional late night service were clear gaps that left riders behind. We are thrilled to see them restored thanks to our advocacy and that of riders across the city.

This victory wouldn't have been possible without the support of our members. Please consider joining or upping your membership today to support our work organizing riders to speak up for transit service.

Get involved with Transit Month

This September, celebrate how transit has kept our region moving through the most difficult times and in the good times to come!

As schools re-open and people head back to work, if even a small fraction of former transit riders opt to take cars, our streets will be gridlocked. Join us as host transit hubs across the city, rally at City Hall, and celebrate those who have helped keep transit going this past year.

Our Approach to SFMTA's 2022 Service Plans

Later this month, SFMTA will present three scenarios for 2022 Muni service: a return to the Familiar Network that would restore suspended routes but reduce frequency on core routes, a Frequent Network that would increase frequency along major corridors but leave many routes suspended, and a hybrid scenario that aims to balance the features of the Familiar and the Frequent networks.

None of these scenarios sufficiently meets the needs of riders, let alone achieves our 30x30 vision of a world class transit network in San Francisco. However, it is important to engage with each scenario as an intermediary step as SFMTA continues to hire staff and works with the Mayor and Board of Supervisors to secure the funding needed to fully restore, improve and expand Muni service.

Take the survey: Improving the 1 and the 29

There are almost three miles of new transit-only lanes along the 1 California route! Unfortunately, these lanes are only temporary and we need you to speak up in order to make them permanent. Take SFMTA's survey on the 1 California and tell them why these lanes need to be made permanent this fall.

Thanks to the advocacy of San Francisco Transit Riders and youth across the city, SFMTA is considering a 29R Sunset Rapid bus as a way to improve crosstown trips across the southern and western parts of the city. Give SFMTA feedback on the 29 Improvement Project and why we need to make the 29 Sunset the city's newest rapid route.
