We’re taking to the streets to spread the word that information about self-managed abortion with pills belongs to all of us. Self-managed abortion with pills is safe, it works, and it is unstoppable. No matter what the Supreme Court does. This teach-in will provide context about the current state of abortion access in the United States, teach you about the protocol for self-managed abortion with pills, and show you how you can take action in your community.

Self-Care

Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.

Here are our self-care tips for August:

  1. Pet an animal! Charles M. Schulz wrote that "happiness is a warm puppy" and I couldn't agree more. Be they cats, dogs, or other domesticated critters, nothing calms me like giving behind-the-ear scratches to a furry friend. Just remember: always ask the owner/caretaker before touching an unfamiliar animal, don't bother wildlife, and never interrupt guide dogs or other service animals. -Shireen, deputy director based in Washington, D.C.
  2. Don’t hate, exfoliate! Mix some white sugar and oil(s) of your choice in a shower friendly container (add essential oils if you want it scented), and voila! You have a sugar scrub that gets rid of dead skin and moisturizes simultaneously. Use it everywhere but your face. Thank me later! -Eva, senior outreach producer based in Columbia, Missouri
  3. Try something new! Whether that means a new sport or a new hobby, push yourself a bit outside of your comfort zone. I recently went to a glass blowing class (something I had never considered trying) and tried my hand at making a glass bowl. It was surprisingly easy and fun, and I came home with a beautiful, handmade bowl that I'm really proud of. I can't wait to go back! -Nataley, executive assistant based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

See you next month!

Erin, Shireen, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Evonnia, Jessica, Kara, Nataley, Tenaja, and the Reproaction team
