Between the findings of OutRight’s report, Vulnerability Amplified, news increasingly highlighting inequity in access to COVID-19 vaccines, and the overwhelming number of calls for help expressed in the applications to OutRight's Emergency Fund, it is painfully clear – for LGBTIQ people the pandemic is a crisis within a crisis.
A crisis of hunger, domestic violence, homelessness and even death.
In April 2020, OutRight launched the COVID-19 Global LGBTIQ Emergency Fund to respond to the urgent and ongoing needs of LGBTIQ people and communities around the world, particularly where poverty is deep, healthcare systems are under resourced and humanitarian interventions may exclude the LGBTIQ population.
By mid August 2021, OutRight will have distributed approximately USD $3.2M in grants to 310 groups in more than 101 countries, reaching an estimated 145,000+ people.
We invite you to join us for a compelling conversation on August 26 with LGBTIQ activists and Fund grantees leading COVID-19 response efforts. The program will provide insight into the resilience of LGBTIQ communities around the world, the impact of the Fund to date, the current state of the global LGBTIQ human rights movement today, and what comes next.
OutRight’s COVID-19 Global LGBTIQ Emergency Fund is only made possible by the support of hundreds of generous donors, partners, and sponsors. We remain deeply grateful to all who have contributed to the Fund.
