Hey friend —

I wanted to make sure you got Kai's invitation to our Mid-Atlantic Mayors' Lunchtime Panel — it's happening TODAY at noon, and we're looking forward to an engaging discussion with Mayor Paige Cognetti of Scranton and other officials who are on the frontlines of tackling the impacts of climate change.

The more people who join us, the stronger a message we'll be able to send to our lawmakers that failure is not an option when it comes to making historic investments on climate, jobs, and justice. Sign up here to join us later and submit any questions you might have beforehand >>

Thanks for all that you do.

Hi there,

The Senate recently passed a bipartisan infrastructure bill that invests just a fraction of what we need to address the climate crisis and support the frontline communities who carry the greatest burden from climate change and pollution, including communities of color and communities of low wealth.

This is a make-or-break moment. Whether Congress immediately moves a budget reconciliation package that matches the scale of the climate and environmental justice crises we face depends on the actions we take right now.

That’s why we’re enlisting the voices of mayors in our region, who are on the frontlines handling the crises that climate change is already creating. Join us for a Mid-Atlantic Mayors’ Virtual Lunchtime Panel next week on Wednesday, August 18 with our partners at New Jersey LCV, New York LCV, and Maryland LCV.

The more people who show up, the stronger a message we’ll be able to send both to these local officials and federal lawmakers that failure is not an option.

Confirmed guests include:

  • Mayor Paige Cognetti, Scranton, PA
  • Mayor Gavin Buckley, Annapolis, MD
  • Mayor Ravinder Bhalla, Hoboken, NJ
  • Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Albany, NY
  • Julie Tighe, President, New York LCV

In poll after poll, President Biden’s plan to tackle the climate crisis, invest in green infrastructure and technology, and create millions of new jobs is supported by overwhelming margins. This is the most ambitious climate plan proposed by any American president, ever, and it’s clear that the country is hungry for it. We are talking about millions of new jobs, billions invested in a clean energy economy, and concrete steps to break down systemic inequalities and address the harms that the environmental justice movement has been fighting for years.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about several Mayors’ stances on the Build Back Better Agenda and ask your Mayor the questions you have always wanted answered. Click here to sign up and submit your questions to the panel.

Looking forward to seeing you there,
